Mary in Chains

'Venus dresses in Furs while Mary sits in Chains...'

Ok, at the risk of offending religious nutters, I just want to mention that this portrait is in no way a stab at Christianity. It is a prep photo for a painting I am doing for my art coursework about fetishism, pornography and the portrayal of women in art and pop culture. I wanted to put a modern spin on a classical portrait of a woman, and the Madonna is the most iconic and recognisable figure in the history of art. All religious connotations are purely incidental.....

Oh, and also, yes this is a self portrait, but it doesn't mean I believe I have delusions of grandeur or anything...I know I am not the mother of Christ..
